Independent National Convention Day 1

One idea kept coming up: independents aren’t simply voters waiting to be sorted into “leans Republican” or “leans Democrat.” Speakers here are making the case that independents represent a political movement capable of standing on its own. But that wasn’t the only moment that stood out. A Republican elected official pushed back on claims about mail-in voter fraud, argued that more voter participation is better, and spoke openly about how fear is used in politics to motivate voters.
