Did Pete Hegseth Fire the Army’s Top General Over Kid Rock?

What does Kid Rock have to do with the firing of the Army’s highest-ranking officer? After two Apache helicopters flew low over Kid Rock’s Tennessee property, the Army grounded the pilots and opened an investigation. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth intervened, ended the investigation and publicly cleared the crews. According to reporting by The Washington Post, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George wanted the investigation to continue. Not long afterward, Hegseth removed him without publicly explaining why. There is no confirmed evidence that the Kid Rock dispute caused George’s removal. That unanswered question, however, is exactly the problem. Does Hegseth want generals who follow established rules and challenge questionable decisions, or generals who simply tell him what he wants to hear? This Week’s Worst from Fiercely Independent.
