Privacy Under Attack: Could Your Medical Records Be Next?
A judge has blocked the DOJ from accessing private medical records tied to transgender healthcare for minors. But this goes beyond one issue. When the government uses subpoenas and investigations to reach into private medical decisions, the question becomes bigger: where does it stop? Today it may be transgender healthcare. Tomorrow, it could involve abortion records, fertility treatment, mental-health care, or any other private decision the government decides to target. Privacy rights cannot depend on whether people approve of the patient, the treatment, or the politics involved. Rights either apply to everyone, or they are privileges handed out selectively.
